Life Per Minute 23

‘a homesickness for a home to which you cannot return’

If home was always about coming back,
Why does this word exist?
If it was always about parting and returning,
Is there an in-between that we missed?

Home for us is people, places, moments and memories,
What about the naive conflicts and mischievous treacheries?

What about a time when actions were assumed innocent,
When solely the thoughts of linear growth seemed magnificent,

What justified the comfort of unexplained relations formed by a speeding glance,
When our eyes dared to give strangers a chance,

When filtering friends and foes was an undeveloped thought,
When the complexity of being emotionally vulnerable was simply untaught,

When our only protectors were just two individuals cradling their life to sleep,
When peace came with lullabies even before the idea of ‘discomfort’ could creep,

Hiraeth, a place within us which we CAN return to,
An undiscovered pearl of the past, not for all, just for you.
